BAKED. GUNAWARMAN: The Best Baked Goods in Jakarta

The best baked goods in Jakarta, according to me.

July 13, 2026

I've heard people talk about Baked forever, mostly because of the original Bali branch, so when I found out they finally opened one in Gunawarman I knew I had to go check it out. It's not exactly a new brand, but this location felt like a bigger deal than a usual opening, so I went in with some expectations.

Baked started in Bali as a small neighbourhood coffee spot, and over the years it grew into this whole lifestyle brand people are pretty loyal to. The Gunawarman branch is their first real flagship in Jakarta, and it's a lot bigger than I imagined. It's not just a bakery, it's more like a full day cafe where people come for coffee, brunch, and pastries all at once.

The space feels bigger than a bakery should

The first thing I noticed walking in was just how much space there is. Raw walls, exposed structures, warm wood accents here and there, it has that half-industrial half-cozy thing going on. It didn't feel cold or too try-hard though, it still felt comfortable enough to sit for a while.

Big open space, not what you'd expect from a bakery.

Now, the actual baked goods

This is obviously the whole point of coming here. They bake everything on site, so the pastries were still a little warm when I got them. I tried a few different things and none of them felt overly sweet, which I appreciated. The classics like croissants and churros are there, but there were also some newer flavors on the display that looked more experimental, the kind of thing you don't usually see at other bakeries around town.

The display case had way too many good options.

The kind of bakery where you go in for one croissant and leave with a whole bag.

A few things to know before you go

  • It gets crowded fast: Brunch hours especially. If you want a quieter time, go early on a weekday. Weekends were packed when I went.
  • Prices are a bit higher: Not surprising given the area and the brand, but just something to keep in mind. Portions also lean a little smaller than you'd expect.
  • Coffee is solid too: I wasn't just there for the pastries, the coffee held up well too. Good enough that you could just come for a cup and still have a good time.
  • Good for long hangouts: The space is big enough that it doesn't feel like you're being rushed out, even during busy hours.
Good for a slow morning or a long afternoon.

Overall, this has become one of my favorite bakery finds in Jakarta lately. It's not a hidden gem by any means since everyone already seems to know about it, but it earns the hype. If you're around Gunawarman and want good pastries with a coffee to match, this is worth the visit.
